ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OJODU LCDA HON. (ENGR.) JULIUS OLUMUYIWA OLORO AT THE SPEED UP LAGOS HUMAN CAPACITY BUILDING SKILLS TRAINING IN COLLABORATION WITH OJODU LCDA ON WEDNESDAY 30TH OCTOBER, 2019 AT THE COUNCIL HALL.
Protocol
It is indeed a very great honor for me to make a remark on this Graduation Ceremony of the SPEED UP Lagos Human Capacity Building Skills Training for Ojodu LCDA residents.
The programme was a three weeks comprehensive training on life enhancement skills such as tailoring, catering classic, souvenir bags, customizing and printing of gift items, make-up & gele etc.
First and foremost, let me bring it to your notice the acronym SPEED UP means
S – SANWO-OLU
P – PROJECTING
E – ENHANCING
E – ELEVATING
D – DEVELOPING
U – UPGRADING
P – PERFECTING LAGOS
This project is aimed at achieving a greater Lagos as a collective responsibility; this is more reason why Ojodu LCDA keyed into the programme.
Human Capacity Building Skills Training should be encouraged among our youth, women and the society at large. It is known that most graduates cannot get white-collar jobs and the country was recently reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) to have been gradually moving out of economic recession. Hence, the need for the youth to be empowered, women as well as men in order to augment their income to meet immediate family needs.
It is an established fact that the activities of our women and youths 0..in the society often times constitute the backbone of our economy, and studies have shown that by empowering the youth and women, such economic opportunities are the keys to poverty reduction and economic growth.
In lieu of this, the LCDA needs to complement the efforts of the State Government at the grassroots level in reducing the rate of poverty, and this can be achieved through various training.
Let me inform my graduates that Oluremi Tinubu Vocational Training Centre and ICT Shogunro Ogba are available for those of you who are interested in further training.
The Vocational Training Center offers the following:
My speech will not be complete without acknowledging the efforts of the instructors and teachers of the programmes.
Once again, I wish all the graduands a successful outing.
Thank you and God bless.
