Ojodu Local Council Development Area in collaboration with Lagos State Primary Health Care Board and other Partners to support outbreak response with Novel Oral Polio Vaccine (NOPV) in Lagos State.
Lagos State Government in Collaboration with Development Partners (WHO, UNICEF, CHAI, ROTARY etc) is implementing a round of house to house Polio Outbreak Response across all communities of the LGAs/LCDAs in July 2023.
The objectives is to give 2drops of Novel Oral Polio vaccine to all children, aged 0 to 5yrs irrespective of their previous immunization status. The vaccination exercise is to boost the immunity of the target group against the circulating polio virus.
During this campaign, Vitamin A supplement will be administered orally to children age 6months – 5years, while Deworming tablet will be given to children age 1year – 5years. Also all children under 5years will be screened for malnutrition using muac tape
The exercise is scheduled as follows:
Date: Saturday 22nd – Tuesday 25th July 2023
Time: 7:00A.M DAILY
Venue: All structures where children could be found ie. Primary health centres, hospitals, houses, schools, churches, mosques Quoranic schools, ile kewu, markets, shopping malls, play grounds etc.
nOPV2 is a novel oral poliomyelitis (polio) vaccine type 2 (nOPV2) which was developed to address the evolving risk of circulating poliovirus type 2 (cVDPV2).
