The Administration of Ojodu LCDA has partnered with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) to advocate for a positive solid waste management.
At a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Council’s Secretariat on Thursday 16th June, The Executive Chairman, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku expressed his continual readiness to ensure a healthier and cleaner society and forestall the spread of diseases.
He said: “As a government, the well-being of the citizens is very paramount to us. This prompted us to take effective and proactive measures at preventing any endemic and inimical trend that could jeopardize public health and safety.”
Odunmbaku who was ably represented by the Vice-Chairman, Hon. Bunmi Oluyadi admonished the citizens to employ the appropriate channels for waste disposal through LAWMA as sanctions would be enforced to deter non-compliance.
“I admonish all our stakeholders and the good people of Ojodu LCDA to utilize the proper waste disposal channel through LAWMA. Prompt payment for waste and requisite environmental sanitation exercises should be thoroughly adhered to in order to have the clean society of our dreams” he added.
While responding to questions, the Executive Director of Finance, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi explicated that LAWMA is working around the clock to ensure that the society is made livable by vehemently engaging all lawful avenues for carrying out waste disposal.
Adebiyi also hinted that LAWMA has launched a mobile application that would make engagements and evacuation exercises seamless. There is also provision of affordable bins through the “Adopt-a-Bin” scheme.
The director also advised stakeholders to stop patronizing cart pushers whose actions are inimical to the wellbeing of the citizens on the long run. Likewise, recycling of waste was preached as reasonable money could also be generated from such.
In order to further ease refuse clearance and for inquiries, a Tollfree number (07080601020) was given.
Also present at the meeting were Legislators, Executive Committee, CDC/CDA representatives, religious leaders,market leaders management team, representatives of LAWMA and other stakeholders within the LCDA
