OJODU LCDA COMMENCES SOLAR TRAINING FOR YOUTHS

During the inaugural event of the groundbreaking Free Health Mission in Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), the community came together to witness a remarkable undertaking focused on delivering top-notch healthcare and elevating the quality of life for its residents. Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku, the Executive Chairman, conveyed his heartfelt appreciation and underscored the steadfast dedication to enhancing the community’s well-being through this initiative in his impassioned address.”
During his speech, Odunmbaku underscored the primary objective of the Health Mission, which is to meet the surgical needs of the community. The initiative encompasses the funding for a range of surgical procedures, such as Lipoma removal, breast lump excision, hernia repair, ganglion cyst removal, and hydrocele surgery. The chairman emphasized the significance of comprehensive medical screenings to guarantee the effective implementation of these interventions.
Furthermore, the mission adopts a comprehensive approach, including dental restorations, eye examinations, and the provision of free eyeglasses to those in need.
The Mayor proudly announced the significant progress made in the past week, with over 2,000 individuals successfully screened and their health concerns promptly addressed. Building upon these screenings, surgeries were scheduled for 200 patients who had undergone the screening process. A team of six highly skilled surgeons was assembled to perform these surgeries with expertise and precision, ensuring the best possible care for the patients.
In a demonstration of the administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people, he also revealed that 20 individuals requiring major surgeries would be referred to secondary institutions, with all treatment expenses fully covered. The recovery process would also be closely monitored, ensuring the necessary care and attention.
To provide additional support, 30 ad hoc staff members were employed; including doctors, midwives, and lab technicians. These dedicated individuals would complement the existing medical personnel, strengthening healthcare services in Ojodu LCDA and ensuring comprehensive and efficient care for the community.
In addition to surgical interventions, the mission aimed to improve vision and enhance the daily lives of those in need by distributing over 5,000 glasses to patients. The chairman expressed hope that this essential aid would empower individuals and enable them to fully participate in society.
The chairman concluded by highlighting the administration’s efforts to revitalize the Primary Health Service Delivery and rehabilitate similar infrastructures. Various initiatives, such as installing solar power systems, procuring an ambulance for emergency services, upgrading select PHCs to provide 24-hour care, and forging partnerships with esteemed NGOs, have been implemented. These efforts were aimed at ensuring that the citizens and residents of Ojodu LCDA could enjoy the benefits of grassroots governance and improved access to healthcare.
While giving their goodwill messages at the event, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos Health District VI, Dr. Abimbola Mabogunje, and the Permanent Secretary of Primary Health Care Board Dr. Ibrahim Mustapha admonished the community members to avail themselves of this rare opportunity and every other people-oriented initiatives of the government. They also allayed the fear of the people towards the conspiracies surrounding vaccination. They noted that vaccination has been proven to be 100 percent effective with zero side effects. Therefore. They encouraged parents and guardians to release their wards.
With the flag-off ceremony marking the commencement of the Surgical Mission, the residents of Ojodu LCDA could look forward to a future of improved healthcare services and a better quality of life for all.
