OJODU LCDA CHAIRMAN INAUGURATES 2026 BUDGET RETREAT, HARPS ON SUSTAINABLE GROWTH AND RESILIENT COMMUNITIES - OJODU LCDA

The Executive Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, has formally flagged off the 2026 Budget Retreat with the theme “Sustainable Growth for All: Investing in Resilient Communities.”
The retreat, which also doubles as the Annual Procurement and Planning Summit, is being held under the sub-theme “Understanding Public Procurement and Procedures.” It commenced on Saturday, 13th December 2025, at Osmark Hotel and Suites, off Akala Road, Ibadan, Oyo State.
In his opening remarks, Hon. Odunmbaku described the annual budget retreat as a vital governance tool designed to strengthen institutional capacity, promote fiscal discipline, and drive inclusive development within the LCDA. He noted that the forum provides an avenue for reflection, collaboration, and strategic planning among key stakeholders in preparation for the 2026 fiscal year.
The Chairman stressed that the forthcoming 2026 budget would prioritize sustainable growth, investment in resilient communities, and enhanced transparency and accountability, particularly in public procurement processes.
Delivering the keynote lecture, the Guest Speaker, Mr. Ambali Taofiki Oluwakemi, Director of Procurement at the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), described procurement as “a structured process through which an organisation identifies and acquires goods, works, and services to achieve its goals and objectives.”
He further explained that public procurement involves the professional and transparent acquisition and distribution of goods and services for community development. Mr. Oluwakemi outlined the critical stages of the procurement process, including Planning, Request for Documentation, Market Approach, Evaluation, Negotiation and Contract Award, Contract Management, and Disposal.
The session featured an interactive question-and-answer segment, allowing participants to seek clarity and deepen their understanding of procurement procedures.
The retreat brought together government officials, heads of departments and units, development partners, and other key stakeholders. Participants are expected to engage in robust deliberations aimed at producing a transparent, inclusive and development-driven budget framework for the 2026 fiscal year.
Activities on the second day centered on the presentation “Enhancing revenue generation through community engagement in Ojodu LCDA” by Mr. Gafarr M. Ademola from Budget Department who gave insightful lectures on fiscal strategy and revenue enhancement, as participants reviewed the proposed 2026 budget estimates. Key discussions highlighted the need for digitalization of revenue collection processes, strengthened capacity building, improved staff motivation and enhanced welfare structures, all aimed at expanding the council’s revenue base and improving efficiency.
The retreat ended with a collective commitment by stakeholders to deliver a people-focused, transparent and development-oriented 2026 budget that will further drive the growth and transformation of Ojodu LCDA, in line with the HEYSRELOADED Agenda.
