In line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number six, which seeks to bring clean water and sanitation, the Water Aid Kimberly Clark Project, in partnership with Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), says it has set out a program on water sanitation and hygiene activities.
Speaking at the meeting held at the council secretariat on Tuesday, the project manager of Water Aide, Mrs Nanbam Michael, said the organization has done baseline and formative research in Ojodu communities.
According to her, the aim is to provide clean and accessible water to all the primary and secondary schools, Primary Healthcare Centres and public toilets to promote good health and well-being of residents of the council area.
“We are working to support Ojodu LCDA on water sanitation and hygiene activity, so we started this project in 2021, and we have done a lot of training and inception meetings and the rest. We have done formative research, this week what we are trying to do is the assessment of facilities because the project will support the building for rehabilitation of toilets in schools, and PHCs, we want to see which facility does not have sanitation or which facility needs rehabilitation either for water or sanitation,” she said.
She added that “we have also opened a centralized account where we at Water Aid will send our contribution to facilitating the projects, we have also signed the Project Partner Agreement (PPA) for the project,” said Nanbam.
For his part, the council chair, Mr David Olusegun Odunmbaku, assured the organization of his administration’s support in getting clean water to all schools and PHCs in Ojodu LCDA.
According to Odunmbaku, the essence of the project is to ensure all government facilities in the council area have access to clean and potable water. “We want to make sure that all our schools and PHCs in Ojodu and its environs have access to clean and potable water,” he asserted.
Present at the meeting includes the council’s head of administration, Engr. Dele Abayomi; council treasurer, Mrs. Oluyemi Adedipe; the leader of Ojodu LCDA Legislature Arm, Rt. Hon.
