ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, HON. (ENGR.) JULIUS OLUMUYIWA OLORO ATPRESENTATION OF CHEQUES TO SHONOLA FIRE VICTIMS ON TUESDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER, 2019 HELD AT THE COUNCIL SECRETARIAT.
We have every cause to give thanks to Almighty God in all situations. In that wise, we are thankful for God’s intervention on the saddening incident that happened on the 6th of April at Shonola Street, Aguda-Ogba. I sincerely sympathize with those who were affected by the incident.
Let me use this medium to reiterate that the paramount duty of any government, irrespective of the tier, is to ensure the safety of lives and properties of her citizen.
Therefore, our administration has put in place this gesture to bring succor to those affected by this incident. This is a remedial act that will ensure that the people’s means of livelihood are restored.
However, let this be a wakeup call to all of us that the safety of lives and properties is a collective effort.
Thus, we must be vigilant and safety conscious by following precautionary instructions while carrying out our daily activities, in order to forestall dangers and life-threatening occurrences.
In conclusion, I wish to congratulate the beneficiaries of this gesture and admonish them to put this palliative fund to good use, while we pray that such incident will not recur.
On this note I present, cheques of different amount to all the affected traders to the glory of God and man.
