The department is saddled with the various responsibilities within the local government and its environs; The duties and functions of this department includes Waste Management, Food and Regulated Premises Inspection and Control, Parks and garden, Routine and Daily Environmental Sanitation, Pest Control Services (Fumigation of Premises/ Shops/ Restaurant etc,) Flood Control & Environmental Emergency Control, Evacuation and Dislodging of Septic tanks etc.
All the above activities that were carried out during the period of review are summarized as follows:
WASTE MANAGEMENT: Adequate disposal of refuse within the local government and its PHC and MDG’s centres were done promptly and disposed off effectively by the operators in charge.
WEEKLY ENVIRONMENT SANITATION EXERCISE: This were effectively carried out on weekly basis with a view of preventing diseases, promoting health, prolong life in and around markets within Ojodu L.C.D.A
FLOOD CONTROL: Sensitisation is on-going amongst the residents on the need to keep their drainages clean and the Local Government has already embarked on clearing and desilting of drainages.
FUMIGATION: Sensitisation /meeting were also done with residents and stake-holders on this aspect.
FOOD CONTROL: Collation of data of food regulated premises was done and demand notices were served in order to generate revenue to the LCDA’s cover.
SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME: Sensitization programme was carried out at Purple Nursery /Primary School, Ojodu, and at Markets places within Ojodu LCDA on COVID-19 outbreak.
