August 16, 2023
In the early hours of Friday 13th January 2023, the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon David Olusegun Odunmbaku visited City FM 105.1 to discuss “The Role Of Local Government in bringing governance to the people and milestone” and various issues affecting the community; on the station’s Breakfast in the City Morning show, hosted by Rex, Chiwete & Bybisasa.
During his visit, the Mayor expounded on the HEYS (Health, Education, Youth Empowerment, and Social Infrastructure) Mission; the focal points of his administration. These are also in tandem with Mr governor’s THEMES Agenda and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Odunmbaku began by expatiating on the difference between Local Government and Local Council Development Area.
“LCDAs (Local Council Development Areas) are smaller administrative divisions within an LGA. They are created by state government and are responsible for providing more localized and specialized services to the people living within their jurisdiction. LCDAs are usually created to address the specific needs of an area that is not being met by the LGA”, Odunmbaku clarified.
He also discussed the Council’s efforts to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the citizen by upgrading and equipping all Primary Health Care Centres within the LCDA, with adequate personnel and medical equipment for quality service delivery.
Since inception, Odunmbaku has been committed to the provision of quality basic education and more opportunities for students to pursue higher education, through the distribution of Free JAMB and GCE forms to indigent students in the Council.
Likewise, the Mayor has assisted young people with the skills and resources they need to succeed in life via several empowerment and entrepreneurial initiatives.
Finally, the Mayor discussed the Council’s efforts at improving social infrastructure in the area. He highlighted the council’s plan to rehabilitate several roads in order to aid transportation and commuting within the community.
“Presently, we have about 85 untared road within the LCDA. However, with the meager resources at our disposal, we are assiduously working to ensure that at least Six (6) roads are constructed in each of the Wards of Ojodu LCDA. This would have a significant impact on the commuting within the LCDA”, Odunmbaku said.
