I am grateful to God Almighty for making this occasion possible, which concerns matters very close to my heart. Poverty Alleviation and economic empowerment are issues that must be addressed by all those whom God has blessed, especially those at the helms of affair in leadership. The pursuit of this programme as a crusade, must be fought with all the vigor, focus and dedication.
Poverty is generally seen as ones incapacity to have access to the basic necessity of life, such as food, shelter, clothing, portable water, education, and affordable healthcare. Hence, this program is a step in the right direction to position our citizens on the path of financial and economic liberation.
Poverty must be eradicated through various programme because it creates low self-esteem and a feeling of worthlessness. This is the reason for my being deeply concerned about the aged, widows and physically challenged because they are at the receiving end. My commitment to empower the aged and widows is to let them know that, the society still cares for them.
In conclusion, I wish the widows, aged and the physically challenged in our midst long life with sound health and the entire citizens of Ojodu LCDA merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance. Amen.
